Claiborne and Haw collaborate for the Magnus Opus of Social Justice. Whimsical, delightful, profound.
I believe it's important to protect the privacy and dignity of those accessing the Mission facilities. As such, I've adopted the following standards for this blog...
- No identifiers will ever be attached to an individual mentioned in Today at the Mission. If a name is used it is one I've made up. I won't identify the name or the location of the Mission, either.
- Any event described in Today at the Mission is one that occurred in a public space and was witnessed by at least one person who was not a participant.
- Any event described in Today at the Mission is one I witnessed or participated in personally.
My purpose in creating Today at the Mission is to share with you the world of homelessness. It's a very different world than the one most of us live in; a world with it's own language, culture, rules and design. Before I began working in the Mission I was only vaguely aware of the existence of this world, and had absolutely no idea what it was really like. Unless you're in it, you have no idea either.
There's also typos and various grammarian faux pas throughout. Get over it.
